AdrianAdrianArtistic Director

Adrian is an actor, voice coach and director of many years' experience. He studied the History of Ideas at Sussex University where he earned a first class degree, before training at The London School of Speech and Drama. He was one of the co-founders of the award-winning Stroud-based Taurus Voice Theatre Company and is now co-director of The Gloucester Theatre Company. He has a diploma in Conflict Resolution from the NAOS Institute. As the Artistic Director of the ASHA Centre, he has run numerous drama-based programmes with young people from all over the world.

    Alex studied Politics with International Relations at Aston University where he earned a first class degree whilst having simultaneously studied and worked in France inside the French Ministry of Youth at the SALTO-Youth EuroMed Resource Centre where he authored, edited and distributed several publications around Euro-Mediterranean Cooperation. Alexander is responsible for the logistical management of Erasmus+ KA1 projects, assisting in the lead coordination of Strategic Partnerships under the EU Erasmus+ KA2 framework.

          Originally from Nepal and married to Prakash Adhikari, ASHA’s Maintenance Manager Indiu is ASHA’s House Keeper. She is responsible for the preparation of meals and for the upkeep of the house. Indiu's real name is ‘Bhagawati’ which means ‘Goddess.’.

            LucieLucie Outreach and volunteer coordinator

            Lucie hosts our many guests and groups of young people, while being a task-related manager and English trainer for the current EVS volunteers. Lucie is also very involved in linking the ASHA Centre to its local community through holding projects like open days and community events, connecting with various youth organisations in the forest, working towards maintaining a close and creative bond with the Grange Village, our neighbouring camphill, where she has directed several theatre plays, held cultural initiatives and educational programmes.

              Mark is the Director of the ASHA Centre drawing on his professional and academic background in the law, theology and the charitable sector. Mark is an interfaith minister, a qualified solicitor and before joining ASHA, was Assistant CEO of an international British based youth and interfaith charity. His main interests include classical music and the religious traditions of India and Iran.

                  PrakashPrakashMaintenance Manager

                  Prakash is ASHA’s Maintenance Manager with broad responsibility for the upkeep of the house and grounds. He is originally from Nepal and is married to Indiu, ASHA’s House Keeper.

                  Prakash is an accomplished chess player, and in his spare time plays against some of the World Wide Web’s most skilful opponents.

                    SandySandyLearning and development Manager

                    Sandy is part of senior management, supports networking and strategic planning for ASHA. She is responsible for coordinating and mentoring ASHA’s busy flow of volunteers and junior staff members. She facilitates and trains groups of young people, on the following themes: Active Volunteering, Life-coaching, Outdoor Education and other. Her main focus is to carry out the long-term projects at ASHA, such as: EVS – hosting and sending, Youth Initiatives, Grundtvig Learning Partnership and additional In-house programmes aiming to build local and global links.

                      SteveSteveOffice Manager

                      Steve is ASHA’s oldest resident. Long before Gunn Mill House became the ASHA Centre, Steve was working on the site for the previous two owners as gardener, decorator and seeing to the maintenance. With the arrival of ASHA at Gunn Mill House and his knowledge of all things IT related meant Steve has moved from the garden into the office and is now the Centre Manager, responsible for day to day bookings and the management of ASHA, the website, occasional bee keeping and keeping a watchful eye on all thing health and safety and the energy use!

                        Steve is ASHA’s Groundsman. Steve joined ASHA with many years' experience of grounds-keeping at private schools in Gloucestershire. He is a born and bred ‘Forester,’ native to the area, and lives in the nearby village of Newnham with his wife, Sally, son, Jamie and daughter, Charlotte..

                            SmokySmokyRodent Manager

                            Smoky was adopted by ASHA after she was found in the wood storage shed with a litter of kittens who we have named, socks, too-shy, and nemo. Smoky can be seen patrolling the grounds keeping a firm eye of the gardeners, volunteers and staff. She is available for stoking but on her terms only. Although a bit of bribery with food always helps.

                              Richard GiffordRichard Gifford

                              Richard Gifford was educated at Cambridge University, and was a Senior Partner at Sheridans Solicitors in London, specialising in international human rights law.Richard is the former chair of the Anglo-Mauritian Association and the trustee of the Illois Trust Fund.He is currently a Consultant with Clifford Chance Solicitors LLP.

                                Dr Kusoom VadgamaDr Kusoom Vadgama

                                Kusoom was born in Kenya in 1932, and studied optometry in London and the Illinois College of Optometry. Kusoom also attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York, and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. In 1961 she set up her optometry practice in London. Kusoom is also an authority on the history of the Indian peoples in the British Empire and has published three well-received books. India in Britain 1852-1947 with forewords by Prince Charles and The Indian Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi,British-Indian campaigns in Britain for Indian reforms, justice and freedom 1831-1947.                                   Thomas ChanThomas Chan

                                  Thomas runs his own management and training consultancy. He delivers food safety training, supports SMEs in overseas markets and promotes inward investments into the UK. He was commissioned as a Deputy Lieutenant by HM Lord Lieutenant of Greater London in May 2014. He is appointed as the Representative Deputy Lieutenant for the London Borough of Redbridge since June 2014. Thomas was a Councillor in the London Borough of Redbridge for 12 years. He has held many Cabinet positions and was Mayor of the Borough in 2009/10, the first ethnic Chinese to hold the position in the United Kingdom. He is a founder member of the Chinese in Britain Forum, a trustee of the Chinese Takeaway Association (UK) and co-chairman of the Asian Catering Federation.
